While we were hopeful yesterday and working towards a plan to get Brittany home in hospice care, yesterday late morning and continuing on to now, she has continually declined rapidly.

Last night Tom and family, alongside Brittany, made the choice to put her on a ventilator. She had expressed in days and weeks earlier that she would want all measures, so we went with honoring what she said as she couldn’t make the decision really at this point. When the ICU team came in to talk to Tom and I about intubating her, the doctor asked Brittany as she was opening her eyes a little if she understood what we were talking about, and if that is what she wanted, and she said a clear “yes”. That is one of the only responses we had from her for several hours proceeding this. She handled the intubating very well for her condition.

Shortly after putting Brittany on the ventilator, we had to make another life preserving decision to put her on dialysis. Again, Tom, with family following his lead, went with her wishes for all measures and she was put on dialysis early this morning.

Please know Tom and family are all doing our best to make decisions based on the limited information Brittany was able to give in the last couple days and weeks past. It has been very difficult to make these decisions as we all wish we were not at this point.

So where are we know? Brittany is both intubated and on dialysis. Her kidney and liver have officially failed, and other organs continuing to. They are continuing to balance everything the best they can. She is currently at the max we can do in all ways to sustain life. She is without pain and comfortable right now which is a top priority for Tom, and all our family surrounding her. So we are just watching and waiting on God’s timing now, and spending precious moments with her.

We’ve continued to receive an outpouring of love for Britt, Tom, the kids, and everyone surrounding her. And we can not thank you enough.

Again, please respect Brittany and Tom and reach out to me and not them directly.

Prayers, peace and comfort are our asks for Brittany. 💗
